Strategic plan

A new strategic planning period started at Anno Museum in 2015. While the old plan to a large extent focused on structure and routines for the (then) newly established museum, the new plan centres around how we can create a better museum together.

All locations—and Anno Museum as a whole—should, based on common values, increase, develop, and utilise our knowledge about the past to stand out as credible, relevant and committed corporate citizens. We will achieve this by becoming an organisation that uses teamwork to fully utilise common resources to everyone's advantage.

The parliament’s guidance, embodied in Report to the Storting No. 49: The Museum of the Future, places a strong focus on management, research, dissemination and renewal. This is the foundation for the preparation of our strategy plan. In addition, we have introduced a fifth concept: business. By that, we mean organisational and economic measures that are necessary to achieve future goals. The five concepts shall lay the foundation for all our activities and permeate our efforts in all areas. Not necessarily all five at once, but always more than one. For example, research shall always be followed by some form of dissemination, and within research, dissemination and management, opportunities for renewal and business should always evaluated.

The main goal for 2015-2019:

Anno Museum creates a close-knit museum-related professional environment that stands out and creates a notable footprint as a socially relevant participant and is recognised as the best consolidated museum in Norway.

To reach our main goal, we are going to focus on the following four areas: our social role, the museum field, economics, and internal organisation. Based on interim goals, we will create action plans for defining milestones, measurement methods, and reporting procedures for each of these areas.
